MADISON — The Madison Historic District Commission approved exterior changes to a duplex at 908 Boston Post Road and tabled a wall-color decision for a downtown sidewalk project pending samples. Commissioners, presented plans by a project lead identified only as Rob, weighed "natural gray" against a darker "downtown center" blend for a roughly 100-foot Versa-Lok retaining wall. The panel noted a State Historic Preservation Office letter found no impacted historic properties, though liability questions remain near the Talcott Bradley House.
Separately, a commissioner said two new homeowners, the Cartledges and the Andersons, were never notified of the sidewalk project because the town updates ownership records only once a year. The commission approved the 908 Boston Post Road changes unanimously and also approved prior meeting minutes with a correction noting Cherry Lane is a private road.
